Planting trees in 2017
The maintenance and planting activities of 1000 pine tree seeds were conducted again by PT. Otsuka Indonesia (PTOI) on the slopes of Mount Arjuna, Lawang, Malang, East Java on December 9th to 10th December 2017. This tree planting activity was a part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the field of environmental Conservation. Planting 1000 pine tree seeds this time was to supplement/complete the pre-existing plants before. In addition to planting trees, 150 participants also joined the plant maintenance by clearing the weeds gross around the trees so as not to interfere with the growth of other pine trees.
The planting activities of PTOI trees in 2017 has been 10 years since it started in 2007. For the new plantings located surround Mount Arjuna had begun in 2009. In duration of 8 years, the number of trees planted in Mount Arjuna reached out a total number of 16,500 trees. While, the number of planting participants were 2,200 people came from various climbing communities and nature activists in East Java.
This 10-years’ time duration proves that PTOI is very consistent in tree planting activities with the ultimate goal of saving and preserving the environment. Even through this kind of activity, PTOI also plays an active role in raising awareness of the main community of young generation to take care to the environment by directly involved in the planting and maintenance activities of trees on the slopes of Arjuna.
